summer school 2023
Technology & Thought in Sonic Media (TTSM) - is a series of workshops by academics from the fields related to Music Technology, Sound Studies and other topics around sonic practices. The workshops are free to participate, held online in real-time and targeted on certain geographical regions. All classes will use English language. We start on July 29.

In Summer 2023 workshops are provided by PHD students and candidates from the Music Department of University of California San Diego.
We plan 4 workshops.
Thematical Block “Computer Music and Music Technology”:

“Neural Networks for Sound Synthesis and Music Generation” with Tornike Karchkhadze

Summer 2023
This year we partner with Mexican and Kazakhstan based cultural institutions to collect diverse international student groups. Our partners are: NettNett (MX), Tselinny (KZ).
Participation is free, but limited to 15 individuals per workshop.
5 spots are allocated for students from Mexico, 5 from Kazakhstan, and up to 5 from the international pool. You will see a locative question in the submission form.
If there are more applicants than available spots, a selection process will be conducted by the workshop tutor and a representative from the local partnering institution. The tutor has the discretion to extend the participant count.
All classes will be given in English language.
Geographical targeting
Structure for each workshop:
Saturday – 4 or 5 hours with a break – real-time in ZOOM
Sunday – 4 or 5 hours with a break – real-time in ZOOM
Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu – work on home task with async supervision in chat (Telegram)
Friday or Saturday – task submission and feedback (optional in ZOOM or in chat)
We recommend to install Telegram, which will be the main communication tool in this school.
